SLOW FLOW YOGA
Inspired by the practices of Hatha and Vinyasa, these classes combine sustained postures with postures flowing in mindful progression, weaving yogic philosophy through a combination of asana (postures), breathwork, soundwork and meditation. Centred around the breath, these classes are designed to bring balance and rejuvenation to all levels of the being, placing awareness on safety, alignment, inner enquiry and breath with an overall focus on cultivating balance and healing. Classes are designed to ease stress, release tension and build strength and flexibility evenly throughout body, heart and mind.
This class is suitable for all levels - variations are offered for beginners whilst ongoing practitioners can take postures to a deeper level.
These classes share authentic yogic teachings made relevant to the contemporary practitioner, exploring the basic yogic principles of alignment, breath, sound, relaxation and philosophy. A gently paced yet deep practice where postures are held for longer, allowing practitioners to explore the full range of experience each posture has to offer. With the breath as a guide we cultivate ease, strength and flexibility in body heart and mind. Suitable for beginners and ongoing practitioners, with modification and variations offered throughout the class.
These classes are tailored especially for beginners - time is taken to develop a solid grounding and understanding in alignment, breath, movement and meditation. Yogic philosophy is introduced as we bring awareness to the many tools available within the practice of yoga, initiating a process of inner enquiry. Sequences are designed to develop flexibility and strength equally throughout the body, creating space in both mind and body in order to find balance and invite healing, cultivating a sense of both relaxation and rejuvenation. Beginner's Courses available.
Akhanda Yoga, meaning whole, indivisible and complete, is a holistic, grounded and joyful approach to yoga. Developed by Yogrishi Vishvketu, this approach understands yoga as a complete system, an integrated path of practice that aims to reconnect us with our true nature, grounding yogic and Vedic wisdom into our daily lives to create peace and harmony. Classes typically include asana, breathwork, sounding, relaxation, philosophy and meditation.
Classes offer a moderate sequence of the most familiar and accessible postures and breathing techniques, and can be enjoyed by both beginning and continuing students. The classes introduce the basic principles of alignment, breath, sound, yogic thought and relaxation. You will come away with tools to help you move with greater ease, and use breath both to uplift and calm your whole system.
These classes are designed to inspire intermediate students through more dynamic asana, pranayama, mantra and longer meditations. These techniques work synergistically to deepen your exploration of the body/mind connection, release blockages and cleanse outmoded thought patterns. This practice aims to heighten your energetic awareness and to balance and expand the flow of prana (life-force energy).
"When practicing asana we create space in the body for energy to flow. With intention, we can create space evenly, and then fill that space with grace, bliss and life force energy."
